my art springs from a fascination with all forms of storytelling. Using stop-motion animation while shooting on a multi-plane animation stand of my own creation my work combines my own drawings, paintings and sculpture with a range of found materials and family heirlooms, constructing micro-epics that whisper secret histories and breathe with the living hand of the creator.
My art and filmmaking practice are intimately linked to my teaching. i teache animation, drawing, sculpture and visual storytelling to all ages in a wide variety of situations, from Under-Camera Animation classes at Concordia to working with organizations like Digital Mi’Kmaq, assisting youth in translating traditional teachings into animations.
You can find me around Montreal projecting animation experiments, gathering discarded treasures from abandoned sites, or through the overgrown, faintly glowing window of my subterranean studio apartment, creating at all hours of the day.
